The thrill of the action                        

The Reading Phillies baseball team is one of the country's most successful minor league franchises. They've been playing Double A ball at Reading's classic ballpark, First Energy Stadium, for six decades. And it all occurs right here in "Baseballtown," an official designation that pays tribute to our region's dedication to our national pastime.

The Reading Royals Professional Hockey Team, one of 25 teams in the competitive East Coast Hockey League, provides winter entertainment at the Sovereign Center.

We also have the Reading Rage professional soccer team and Reading Express indoor arena football team - the 2009 AIFA Champions.

For motor sports fans, you can experience the roar of 300 mile per hour dragsters at Maple Grove Raceway. The raceway has drag racing from spring to fall and hosts the NHRA Nationals every September. Reading is also the site of the Duryea and Pagoda Hillclimbs on the scenic, twisting roads leading up to Mount Penn above the city.
